Actually called the Eilean Donan Castle, this castle was used in the making of the motion picture "Highlander."
Just south of Glasgow is Bothwell Castle, which was attacked almost immediately after it was built in the 13th century. The peeled-back layers of its architecture depict the lengths gone to keep the castle a viable fortress. There are the remains of the moat, a garrison, a Great Hall and its adjacent chapel.
