Bothwell Castle Just south of Glasgow is Bothwell Castle, which was attacked almost immediately after it was built in the 13th century. The peeled-back layers of its architecture depict the lengths gone to keep the castle a viable fortress. There are the remains of the moat, a garrison, a Great Hall and its adjacent chapel. Address:
